This route takes you through part of the Giethoornse Dorpsgracht and through Wanneperveen.
Venice of the North
From the footpath along the Dorpsgracht you can experience the splendor to which Giethoorn owes its nickname of Venice of the North. You will see many characteristic monumental farms there. It won't take any effort to walk this part of the route a few times, the view is so beautiful. You will also pass through Wanneperveen, a ribbon village that was previously built on raised bogs. At Veneweg 83 you can see the Schultehuis from 1602.
Rough Weeding
The Wieden mainly consists of a few large lakes, such as the Beulakerwijde, Belterwijde and Bovenwijde. It is wonderful to stare out over the water and let the silence take effect on you. On the edges of these lakes you will see reed fields, swamp forest and flowery meadows. South of Wanneperveen you look out over the marshes of the Kiersche Wijde.
