Walking through beautiful Twente

In the area around Twente Nutter you can walk at your leisure through tranquil stream valleys. This route takes you over the Hezinger and Nutter Esch and through the Hazelbekke nature reserve.

Ashes and streams
The route takes you through a slightly undulating landscape where fields on the es alternate with woods and meadows. Everywhere you experience that surprisingly pleasant Twente peace and cosiness. In the stream valley of the Hazelbekke, the once cleared wooded banks are being restored to their former glory. In this small-scale cultural landscape you will find hay meadows and swamp forest complexes in which rare plants such as wild orchids, golden saxifrage and small valerian grow.

The Mast
Soon after your departure you will walk past De Mast, an overshot watermill on the Vasserbeek. This beautiful building has been in use as an oil and corn mill since the fifteenth century. It owes its name to Jan Mast who bought the mill in 1811. Along the way you will also see a few old farms.
