Between Wilnis and Woerden you will find a strikingly natural and peaceful landscape that is rich in cultural history. A wonderful area to indulge your cycling heart.
Kockengense Mill
In this relatively sparsely populated region you drive over dikes through an open peat meadow area with numerous ditches and canals. The associated mills are not missing. You see, among other things, the Kockengense Molen from 1675. Until the sixties it drained the Kockengense polder, whose characteristic narrow plots date back to the thirteenth century. A little later you come across the Veenmolen, a corn mill from 1823.
Woerden Leave
The hamlet of Woerdense Verlaat was built at the lock in the Grecht, which was constructed in 1448. Zegveld was only opened up in the sixties by the construction of roads. Cycling through the village, you can still experience the authentic atmosphere of the past.
De Haar Castle
Enough time for a trip? Then visit Kasteel de Haar, the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle originally dates from the fourteenth century, the current castle was rebuilt in 1892 in neo-Gothic style.
