Cycling route: 524106
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you along the Amstelkade in Uithoorn and Nes aan de Amstel. You also look out over Polder Rondehoep, a unique quiet area.
Round hoop
From the Waverdijk you have a beautiful view over the polders. On your right is the vast Rondehoep, a quiet area that mainly consists of grassland. This former low moor area was already cultivated between 1100 and 1300. The ancient pattern of ditches is still visible in the allotments. At the end of your route, you drive a few more kilometers from junction 52 through the First dike of the Mijdrechtse Droogmakerij, a polder that was drained after much effort in 1845.
Nes on the Amstel
Nes aan de Amstel originated in the sixteenth century as land outside the dykes. On the water of this picturesque village you can see, among other things, the St. Urbanus Church from 1891. On the quay in Uithoorn you can see, among other things, the Thamer Church from 1834. While cycling you will see two old settlements: the Fort bij Uithoorn from 1880 and the Fort Waver-Amstel. Both forts cannot be visited.
After your trip you can relax at Camping Botsholland. From Camping Botsholland you can take a beautiful bike ride along the Vinkeveense and Loosdrechtse Plassen via route 524106.
