From Westervoort you cross the Westervoortse bridge and the Sakharov bridge (also called Pley bridge). Once you have crossed this last bridge, you can reach the Malburgse Bandijk by bicycle via a staircase with a bicycle guide (if you have a mobility scooter, continue driving and follow the signs towards Arnhem - at the Bakenhof you will see this dike on the right).
Once on the Bandijk, take the lower right-hand cycle path and ride close to the Rhine between water features. Turn right over the bridge and pass under the John Frost Bridge on the Stadsblokweg. At the end, turn right and drive under the Mandela Bridge. If you drive straight ahead you will arrive in the beautiful, recently renovated Meinerswijk floodplain park. There is a good chance that Galloway cattle or Konik horses will cross your path here. You follow the Meginhardweg past the brick factory and drive towards the spillway. It is worthwhile to turn left just before the spillway onto the cycle path that leads between the southern lakes. First you will see on the right the remains of cannons from WWII as well as recognizable excavations of the northern border of the Roman Empire (the so-called limes). Beautiful views over the water and, if desired, a walk to the bird hide make this path also worthwhile. The best option is to ride up and down this cycle path and go over or along the spillway onto the Drielse Dijk (an alternative is to drive straight ahead at the bus stop sign and thus arrive at the Drielse Dijk, but then you drive along a busy motorway ).
Following the junctions you will arrive at the Weteringswal before Driel and Elst. The part of the route that leads via the Lingewal to the Linge begins here. South of Huissen you cross the Linge and continue eastwards on the cycle path. You will then drive along the Frontlijnpad, one of the many paths here that refer to the war years. This path marks the position of German and Allied army units during Operation Market Garden. At the Huissen industrial estate, following the junctions, you will automatically arrive at Lingefietspad Noord. This runs along the Linge and under the Betuweroute (freight rail). A little further on, turn left into Kampsestraat, drive through Angeren and via the Angerense Dijk to the Looveer. On the other side of the Pannerdensch Canal you will return to the starting point of this watery and varied route via the Hondsbroeksche Pley. Also suitable for mobility scooters.
