Description
This route consists of 2 parts because route.nl does not handle the ferry service. Part 1 of the route (see route number 516624) covers 16.5 km from Maasland to the Hoek van Holland ferry service. Part 2 (route number 516661) covers 50 km and starts at the arrival point of the ferry service that sails from Hoek van Holland to the second Maasvlakte. It is a very cool route through the desolate industrial landscape of the Maasvlakte to the nature reserves that border it. From point 91, take the route around the slufter to point 56, unfortunately the app does not do that.
It is an hour's bike ride from the ferry to point 1, where you can have lunch at the Aan Zee restaurant, which is highly recommended. This is followed by several catering points along the way that are also fun. You also pass the sea, so if it is warm you can swim along the way. The route goes back to Maasland where we start.
Alternative: if you take the north bank (Europaweg) of the Oostvoornsemeer (from point 1) you will pass the Stormvogel pavilion with a new beach club with an excellent terrace and ditto kitchen. You can also swim there!
