Tour through the woods near Borger

Your route starts at Boerderijcamping De Jobinghoeve Grolloo. Via Borger you drive a bit on the border of Boswachterij Gieten-Borger and the surrounding countryside. Shade and beautiful views alternate here. In the forests near Grolloo and Schoonloo you drive through forests and heathlands. The deeper you drive into the forests, the quieter it becomes. At the Grolloërveen in Boswachterij Grolloo you will pass an old-fashioned tjasker. This mill was previously used to drain fens for the benefit of peat cutting. You will also see many characteristic old farms. In Borger you will pass the Willibrord Church. The current building dates from 1826 and replaced the original medieval church. The fourteenth-century tower is still standing, it is built on a foundation of granite boulders.
