Pisa may be famous for its leaning tower, but Bedum has one too. And a tower that is even more leaning: the tower of the Walfridus church, built in the 11th century, is 4.18 degrees out of plumb, while Pisa has to make do with only 3.97 degrees. What you may not know: footballer Arjen Robben and cyclist Laurens ten Dam were born here.
Winsum, not unknown to Pieterpad walkers, also has a special church tower. The stairs to the tower of the Torenkerk are on the outside. Although no nationally known athletes were born here, that could easily happen in the future. The small village of Winsum has nine sports clubs.
Enjoy the beautiful part of Groningen, the waters Reitdiep and Winsumerdiep and the picturesque Groningen villages
