Flevoland is the youngest province of the Netherlands. When the polders of Flevoland were finished, farmers from all over the country were selected to come and live in and cultivate the new land. The fields were divided and even the ditches had to be dug by the residents themselves. The province is still known for its vast polders and structured fields. This gives Flevoland an image that is mainly very straightforward. But during this surprisingly beautiful cycling route you will see that this image is not correct!

Cycle through the rural area and visit the villages of Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant. On October 10, 1963, the Heijmink family was the first to live in Biddinghuizen. The village is named after a disappeared village of the same name. It is a popular area for recreation and this is reflected in the many campsites in the area.

Like Biddinghuizen, the village of Swifterbant is not old, because this polder was only drained in 1950. However, a prehistoric settlement has been found near the village, a fortress of Stone Age hunters. Discover life from the Stone Age at the Archaeological Open Air Museum Swifterkamp.
