There is plenty of history to experience in the heart of Leiden. You will walk past the building of the Museum of Ethnology, and further on you will see the De Valk corn mill from 1743. You will walk a bit along the Oude Vest, where you will make a detour over the Lange Mare to take a look at the Marekerk from 1649. On the east side of the centre you will have a beautiful view over the Haven, after which the Herengracht, De Hooglandse Kerk and the Burcht are on the menu. The medieval Pieterskerk is also a picture. The Van der Werfpark was built in 1886 on the spot where the devastating Leiden gunpowder disaster took place in 1807. You will walk over the centuries-old Rapenburg to the Morspoort from 1669. The route ends with a delicious meal at Pannenkoekenhuys Oudt Leyden.
