Schagen, North Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 5094552
Provided by: route.nl
Your route starts at Paviljoen8/Vakantiepark De Nollen. The area around Wieringen is ideal for a beautiful bike ride. You will experience a surprisingly beautiful contrast between low-lying polders and a rolling landscape. The former island of Wieringen was formed by two moraines that have their highest points at Westerland and Stroe. Wieringen was 'connected' to North Holland in 1924 by embankment and land reclamation. There are still a few boulders on the former island, and here and there you will see a few authentic garden walls of about a meter high that served as property boundaries. Den Oever is the place where the Afsluitdijk comes ashore in North Holland. At this point and a little further on the dike you will find a few old locks and casemates. The former lighthouse from 1884 is also located here.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
