Your route starts at Cafetaria and Brasserie De Veerpoort. Schoonhoven is known for its goldsmiths, but also houses quite a few monumental buildings. Here you pass the centuries-old Bartholomeus church. You see the Bonrepas (French for good meal), a polder mill from 1600. The villages of Bonrepas and Vlist have been preserved so well that they enjoy protected village views. Further on you follow the course of the Hollandse IJssel, which meanders beautifully through the landscape here. This is the Lopikerwaard, an authentic area. Oudewater is the oldest town in the Groene Hart. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries Oudewater was an important producer of rope. For that reason, a lot of hemp was grown in the area, which served as a raw material for the rope. You drive back through villages such as Cabauw.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
