Between the Vecht and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug lies the area of the Vechtplassen. The large water-rich lowland peat area, over 3,000 hectares in size, consists of various nature areas that are more or less connected to each other.
Of course you can cycle here wonderfully, but for those who want something different during a cycle tour it is also nice to interrupt your route for a boat trip. You can swim here in nice weather and also skate during a harsh winter. You will also notice that you are cycling in the area of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and the New Dutch Waterline: you will come across various forts.
