From Zaandijk you can take a beautiful walk along the Zaanse Schans. While walking you can leisurely view the wooden houses and industrial mills that have made this part of Zaandam world famous. Here you can see, among other things, the Bonte Hen, the northernmost mill on the Schans. This oil mill originally dates from 1693. On the right you can look out over the Kalverpolder for a large part of the route. This nature reserve consists of peat meadows, ditches, reed beds and alder swamp forests. The area was developed from the eleventh century onwards, the layout of the area is centuries old and is considered a cultural-historical monument. The last part of the route you walk along the Braakdijk and through the hamlet of Haaldersbroek. On the cozy terrace of Restaurant De Kraai you can enjoy a delicious meal and a drink.
