Cycling route Zaandijk, De Rijp and Beemster

A cycling route steeped in cultural history. Crossing the Zaan River, you can glimpse the Zaanse Schans , one of the Netherlands' most popular attractions. The characteristic green wooden houses on the other side of the bank are also quite impressive. A little later, you'll see them from the front as you cycle along the Lagedijk. Past Oostknollendam, you'll cycle along the expansive polders of the Wormerveld and Jisperveld. It's wonderfully peaceful here. In De Rijp, you'll see several beautiful historic buildings, as well as in Graft, where you'll pass the centuries-old Town Hall. The beautiful church in Schermerhorn dates from 1636. Finally, you'll cycle through the Beemster Polder, a UNESCO World Heritage site. At Restaurant De Kraai, it's time for a drink on a terrace.
