Description

From Breukelen you take a walk along the Utrechtse Vecht and through the polders behind it. First you walk over the old Kerkbrink of Breukelen, followed by the picturesque Brugstraat. On the other side of the Vecht bridge you see Gunterstein, one of the historic country estates that you encounter on the river. On the other side of the water you see Kasteel Nijenrode from 1642, it was built in Dutch Renaissance style. Oudaan is a knight's manor that originally dates from 1300. You walk into the polder via the leafy Nieuweweg, passing Fort Tienhoven. You walk north along the dike, on the right are the Kievitsbuurten that are part of the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Further on you pass Melkveehouderij & Camping Doornenbal, after which you walk back to Breukelen along the Vecht at your leisure.
