Tour of Doldersum, Diever and Holtingerveld

Your route starts at Recreation Center Adelhof. Vledder is the first village on your route. At the Brink you will pass the Museum of Contemporary Graphics / Museum of Fake Art, both of which are well worth a stop! On the border of Drenthe and Friesland lies the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, the largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe. In addition to forest, you will also find heathlands, drifting sands and stream valley grasslands. Via Doldersum you cycle to the village of Diever. Then you cycle over the Holtingerveld. You will find dry heathland and oak-birch forests there. From the heathland you have a beautiful view of the nearby Havelterberg, a small hill with two more dolmens (D53 and D54). The heathland is grazed by a herd of Drentse Heideschapen, the oldest breed in Western Europe.
