From Camping De Vledders you can cycle to the heart of the Drentsche Aa National Park in no time. Park your steel horse and take a walk through the varied landscape. First you cross the Balloerveld. You look out over heathland and tufts of drifting sand and pine forest. Just before junction 98 you come across the Galgenberg, a hill where people used to be executed. Over the leafy Koelandsdijk you continue to Rolde. Just past junction 50 you see the dolmens D17 and D18 on the left. Around the fifteenth-century Jacobuskerk you can enjoy a historical atmosphere. West of Balloo you walk along Kampsheide, a small but varied nature reserve with juniper bushes and a large fen. The last part of your walk you can enjoy views of the Balloerveld again.
