Cycle route from Bilzen to Zutendaal 40 km

There is a lot to see between Bilzen and Zutendaal! This close to the Dutch border you are really in Belgium.

This will take you past the Papendaalheide, a nature reserve with several lakes. Water sports are very popular here and as part of the Hoge Kempen National Park, it is a great place to stay. Close to this area, you will also find a barefoot path. Very nice to use when the weather is good. Make a day of it, with your bare feet through the grass and mud.

The marshy area of the Munsterbos is a beautiful place to take a break. Due to the large amount of water and vegetation, many birds find a home here. Between the large oaks you can suddenly come across a pond, where the birds drink, fish and have enough shelter from natural enemies. That you cycle from one nature reserve to another becomes clear when you go towards the Hesselsberg. Surrounded by greenery, streams and trees, a statue of Mary towers six meters above the landscape.

It is not accessible, but it is beautiful to visit: Groenendaal Castle. In the middle of nature, this country house stands peacefully. It is an impressive building where you can let your imagination run wild. Can you imagine what this looked like hundreds of years ago?
