Exotic cycle route across the German border 64 km

This cycle route takes you through the beautiful Haaksbergerveen nature reserve across the German border to the exotic Zwillbrocker Venn. Since the eighties, a group of flamingos has found its way to the peat area near the Zwillbrock every spring. From the viewing platforms in the area, the group of about forty flamingos can be admired from a distance. Some years, the birds even lay eggs, but because of the foxes that lurk, the risk that these eggs will not survive is unfortunately very high.

Even if the flamingos have already left Zwillbrock, the area is still worth a visit. Everywhere you look you are surprised by the flora and fauna. All the secrets of this natural beauty can be discovered in the visitors center of the Zwillbrocker Venn.

Just like the flamingos, you will have to leave the area to continue your journey. Cross the border again and come back among people in the cozy villages of Neede and Eibergen.
