Description
This year we celebrate and commemorate that it is 80 years ago that we were liberated by the Allies and that the Second World War came to an end. But in other places in the world wars are still being fought, or people are being oppressed. Freedom and the right of democracy can never be taken for granted.
The Freedom Route Zeewolde combines impressive memories of the Second World War with the beauty of the Flevoland landscape. This bike ride of approximately 40 kilometers takes you along monuments, places where planes crashed in WWII, works of art and viewpoints that symbolize freedom and (re)construction.
The cycle route starts at TOP Woldstrand and leads past special objects such as the Monument for Fallen Soldiers and the artwork Sea Level . Along the way you can enjoy the vast Horsterwold, the largest deciduous forest on clay in Western Europe, the Tuurtoren and historical elements such as the Knardijk and the Sluitsteen.
The Freedom Route offers a beautiful mix of history, culture and nature, and is ideal for cyclists looking for a meaningful and varied tour.
