Bij Zuid is the starting point of your route. This walk takes you through the unique water-rich lowlands of the Land van Leeghwater. You walk a long round through the Eilandpolder. Here you will see centuries-old sights such as the Schermer Mills. The Schermer Polder was drained between 1633 and 1635 in a former lake area. This is just one of the many lakes that were drained in the 17th century in North Holland. The Town Hall of Grootschermer was built in 1639. Over the centuries it has been restored twice. In the 19th century the building was used for the storage of peat. The church dates from 1762 and is now used as a cultural centre. Inside you will see, among other things, a pulpit, pews and a baptismal arch from the 17th century.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
