Tour of forts and Wormer- and Jisperveld

Bij Zuid is the starting point of your cycle route. First you cycle a bit along the edge of the Eilandspolder, here you can enjoy beautiful views over the bird-rich nature reserve. You continue through the beautiful villages of West- and Oost-Graftdijk and along the Zaan. In Oost-Graftdijk you see the village church from 1840 with a wooden tower. You also pass a completely wooden worker's house from 1877, with a hacking shed: generations of Graftdijkers earned their living by hacking hemp for rope-making. At the Noordhollandsch kanaal you pass the Fort bij Spijkerboor and the Fort aan de Jisperweg, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. At Jisp you look out over the Wormer- and Jisperveld with the ditches, meadows and lush reed strips. In Wormer you see monumental wooden houses and centuries-old town halls.
