Berkelland, Gelderland, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 5055909
Provided by: Linda, Limburg
Your route starts at Grand Cafe De Klok Patisserie. Nearby you can drop in at the Information-Visitors Centre about the Berkel. Just after you cross the Berkel, you will pass the Kruidenhof in Mallum. You will also see a beautiful monumental half-timbered barn that once belonged to the Mallum manor, now a labyrinth has been created here by a landscape artist. The Mallumse Molen is a corn and hulling mill that was already mentioned in 1424. This was probably the predecessor of the current mill. This dates from 1748, as does the associated lock. The mill used to consist of two buildings. On the right you would find the corn mill and on the left an oil mill. The inhabitants of Eibergen were obliged to have their corn ground at the corn mill. The mill is still in use regularly.
