Did you know that this majestic river was even immortalized in the Twente anthem from 1926? The Regge was recently tackled to give it back its natural grandeur. The result is a river system that stretches over ten kilometers and now offers more space for water storage and natural development.

Along the way you will pass the historic village of Nijverdal, which was hit by a tragic bombing mistake during the Second World War, in which 73 innocent civilians lost their lives. The Memory Museum offers an impressive insight into this event and the impact of the war on the region.

Don't forget to explore the surrounding attractions, including the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park and the Velderberg. The National Park is known for its breathtaking vast heathlands, picturesque forests and spectacular sand drifts, while at the Velderberg you can see how the Regge River was formed.
