In the museum village of Orvelte, history comes to life. Get off your bike and walk over the cobblestones or the old bricks along the monumental farms. Enjoy nature and visit the many artists who have their studios here.
Just outside Orvelte you can admire a replica Iron Age farm and with a bit of luck you will come across the flock of sheep. And did you know that Orvelte has its own zoo? It is the smallest in the Netherlands and is located in an old Saxon farm.
In the esdorp Aalden you can also enjoy the Saxon farms that have been well preserved here. Visit the Jantina Hellingmolen from 1652, popularly called the Aeldermeul. Westerbork is, like Orvelte, a brinkdorp.
