This cycle route takes you through Sneek and the Lege Geaen, which is Frisian for 'Low Countries'. The area is called this because the region is much lower than the land around it. Characteristic of this region are the many small villages and how rich the area is in water. The waters and the polders are real attractions for many different types of birds. So enjoy the peace and space!
The Schippers of the Kamerleon, who doesn't know them? Many films of this duo have been recorded in this area. In Kameleondorp you can go on a boat pushed by the Kameleon and the guides (citizens of Lenten) will tell you everything about the village, the area and of course the Schippers of the Kameleon. Also fun for children, who help constable Zwart solve his problem along the way.
The route also takes you through Sneek. This beautiful historic city is definitely worth a visit, with the unique Waterpoort and the Fries Scheepvaartmuseum as highlights.
