Woudsend, Koudum, Heeg

The Fluessen is the second largest lake in Friesland. Around the lake you will find various regional farmers who each grow their own products. During this cycle route you will pass fields where grain and vegetables are grown and a fisherman who smokes eel.

Get off at the farms and take a look at the yard. On many of the yards you will find a farm shop where you can taste the products fresher than fresh or take them home. Fresh dairy, artisanal sheep's cheese, the tastiest vegetables and fruit and of course eel that has just been smoked in front of you. If that doesn't make for a treat...

The farmlands are interspersed with small villages and real water sports places. But you also encounter art. At Kolderwolde you will find the Famkes van Kolderwolde, eleven statues along the road. They all tell something about the village or the Frisian culture.

Don't forget to get off at Graanmolen't Lam in Woudsend. Miller Cees grinds the grain here every Saturday, which is used to make delicious bread!

There is a ferry on the route (between It Heidenskip and Gaastmeer). This runs from March to November at set times. Check the sailing schedule at the disembarkation time or on the ferry website for the current sailing times.

* From Gaastmeer: follow after junction. 34: 33-16-06-04-17-18-23
