The cycle route from Delfzijl to Uithuizen takes you through the beautiful province of Groningen and offers many fun stops along the way. It is a route full of nature, culture and history, where you cycle past picturesque villages such as Appingedam and can enjoy the Wadden Sea.

You cycle through the harbour town of Delfzijl, where you have a beautiful view of the sea from the dike and you can breathe in the salty sea air. In Delfzijl, you can visit the Museumhuisje't Hoeske van Opoe let. This small house from the 19th century gives you an impression of the daily life of ordinary Groningers at that time. It is a unique museum and a valuable reminder of the past.

Then you cycle to the historic village of Appingedam. Appingedam is one of the oldest places in Groningen and is known for its medieval architecture. The narrow streets and old houses with characteristic facades are a feast for the eyes.

A highlight of your visit to Uithuizen is the Menkemaborg, a beautiful castle from before 1400. The castle has an impressive history and is a unique example of the noble lifestyle of that time. The gardens of the castle are also definitely worth a visit and offer a moment of peace and quiet. On the way you will also pass the Molen de Liefde, a beautiful mill from the 19th century that is still in operation. It is a nice stop to park your bike and take a closer look at the mill
