The route starts at the freely accessible Martinustoren visitors centre . This offers a beautiful view of the surrounding river landscape and the historic town of Gennep. Via the Torenstraat you will reach the historic town hall (where VVV Gennep is located) which has been the centre of attention for many years. storks nest. To the left behind the town hall are the municipal office and the library . Both designed by Alberts and van Huut. Between both buildings is the mosaic square, unique in the Netherlands, the Ellen Hoffmannplein . To the right of the town hall is the Petershuis museum , where a permanent ceramics exhibition can be seen.
Near the Niersbrug lies the first junction of the route, cycle junction 39. From cycle junction 39 the route goes through the pleasant old centre of Gennep. Via cycle junctions 25, 51 and 29 you pass the romantic Heijen castle in the floodplains of the Maas. Towards cycle junctions 46 and 34 on the right lies the lock complex and the car ferry Afferden - Sambeek.
