Description
Lelystad has a lot to offer cyclists: new architecture, urban nature and a view over the Markermeer. In the surrounding polders you will experience plenty of peace.
Batavia
From the starting point you cycle a long way along the IJsselmeer. A beautiful path to get some fresh air and forget the daily routine. You will pass the Bataviawerf, among other things. Here you can admire a replica of the Batavia, the famous seventeenth-century ship. You can also learn more about historical shipbuilding here.
Lelystad Nature Park
As the kilometres glide by under your wheels, you look out over vast grasslands and canals in the polder. The land reclaimed from the Zuiderzee is strongly divided here. Every now and then a green canopy appears on the horizon. You drive through the Ketelbos, the Swifterbos and along Natuurpark Lelystad. You enter Lelystad along one of the many canals. Here you see beautiful examples of modern architecture and urban development.
