Gennep, Limburg, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 5047061

Around 1900, Gennep was the centre of a special railway line, the German Line. The railway line from Boxtel in Brabant to Wesel in Germany was operated by the Noord Brabantsch Duitsche Spoorwegmaatschappij (NBDS). The head office, repair workshops, the Maas bridge and the border station were located in Gennep.
The German line was a high-speed line for that time, which was used by the Tsar of Russia and the Emperor of Germany, among others. Even now, much in Gennep is reminiscent of this railway past, such as the exhibition in the Petershuis Museum and the Loc 094 at the entrance to Gennep. The German Line also ran through the Land van Cuijk. The former station building in Mill is a visible reminder of that time. In addition to the route of the German Line, you also follow a beautiful route through northern Limburg and eastern Brabant.
