(H)onest cycling route around Hellevoetsluis 36 km.

If you want to experience the feeling of Voorne-Putten but don't want to spend hours on your bike, this short route is ideal for you. You cycle through the rural area of this South Holland island in the North Sea, but also along a fort, beaches, harbours and the beautiful nature reserve Beningerslepen. The parking lots at the latter are the ideal starting point for this route.

The Beningerslikken is a nature reserve with creeks, mudflats and roughs on the edge of the Haringvliet. You will find a lookout tower and a birdwatching hut to admire the many birds that feel at home in this delta nature. Listen to see if you can recognize the bluethroat, for example, this relative of the nightingale is known for its exuberant song. At the lookout tower there is a wind turbine in the shape of a tulip where you can charge the battery of your bike with your own generated electricity.

The route continues through Hellevoetsluis, Oudenhoorn and Zuidland. In each of these places we selected sustainable stops that make this route so (h)onest. If the farm shops, thrift shops and mill are not enough for you, you can extend the route a bit and follow junctions 48-49-77 from junction 86 to visit Molen de Hoop in Abbenbroek. From junction 77 you follow junction 82 to return to the route. All this in reverse if you cycle the route in the other direction.
