Your route starts in Slenaken, where you first stop at restaurant LUQS for a cup of coffee. From here you make a beautiful trip to the Val-Dieu Abbey. A must for beer lovers, but also a beautiful historical place. The abbey was founded in 1216 by the Cistercians, at the place where the Bel and the Berwinne meet. It is the only Belgian abbey that survived the French Revolution. Here you can still clearly see the outbuildings that used to belong to an abbey, such as stables, a mill and of course a brewery! Book a Dutch-language tour of the brewery with tasting here. The courtyard and the basilica are freely accessible. On the terrace of the brasserie you can enjoy a delicious Val-Dieu beer on tap.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
