Alkmaar is a beautiful old city that lends itself well to a walk. From Camping Alkmaar you first walk to the Bergervaart. It is nice and quiet here to walk along the water, the reeds and the many trees. You pass the Eendracht, a polder mill from 1771, further on you walk through the city park Munnikenbolwerk. In the old heart of Alkmaar you will find many beautiful buildings. The Sint-Laurenskerk for example dates from the sixteenth century, the Waag dates from 1603. At the Clarissenbolwerk you pass the Molen van Piet, a corn mill dating from 1769. On the corner of the Geest and the Kanisstraat you pass another beautiful sixteenth-century building. Via the city park Westerhout you walk to the Geestmolen from 1565. To the left of it is the small nineteenth-century miller's house.
