Description

From Camping Alkmaar you will experience a cycling day with characteristic Dutch views. First you cycle through the old centre of Alkmaar. On the Oudegracht you will see many beautiful old buildings. On the Hoornse Vaart you will pass four monumental ironing mills from 1630. On the right you look out over the Oudorperhout, a unique meadow area in the middle of the city. A little later you will see the Ambachtsmolen from 1632. Just before Rustenburg there are three monumental ironing mills. You will also see several seventeenth-century polder mills around Schermerhorn. The route takes you through Heiloo, after which you can take a look at the Pulpit, an old moraine. According to tradition, the monk Willibrordus preached here centuries ago to spread Christianity. On the edge of Alkmaar you will see the Geestmolen, which dates from 1565.
