Tour of the Zwaluwenburg, Tongeren and Majuba estates

Your route starts at Dorpsherberg de Roskam. At Doornspijk you cycle past Landgoed en Huize Klarenbeek. The main building and the park, laid out in English style, date from the first half of the nineteenth century. A little further on you will see the Zwaluwenburg, an 18th century baroque country house, six of whose rooms are used as a gallery. A stone's throw away is an almost equally distinguished country house, Schouwenburg. The Majuba nature reserve was named after a mountain in South Africa by a previous owner. It is part of the free game park, so you have a good chance of spotting deer, deer and wild boar here. A little further on you will pass Landgoed Tongeren, one of the largest private estates in the Netherlands. It still has an old, small-scale cultural landscape that has been beautifully preserved.
