Sint Maartensdijk is a nice old town. At the Markt you will see many historical buildings, such as the town hall from 1628. Above the buildings you can see the tower and the roof of the old St. Martin's Church. Sint Maartensdijk was granted city rights as early as 1485. The town was fortified with moats, ramparts and gates that determined the shape of Sint Maartensdijk for centuries. Unfortunately, the castle was demolished in the nineteenth century. You will see De Nijverheid, a corn mill from 1868. A little further on is the body of De Hoop, a former polder mill from 1847. You will also walk along the Oosterschelde: climb the dike to enjoy a beautiful view over the water, while breathing in the fresh air. Then you continue walking through the vast polders.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
