Walking through 't Sweeltje and Munnichsbos

This route takes you to't Sweeltje and the Munnichsbos, two adjacent nature reserves just outside Montfort in Central Limburg. First, you walk into Kerkstraat, on your left you see the monumental parsonage from 1787. Via the path along the Vlootbeek you walk to Happiness spot 3: The gold treasure of't Sweeltje. In 2009, an amateur archaeologist found a Roman treasure here that is almost 2000 years old.'t Sweeltje itself is a forest where mainly Scots pines grow. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk here. In the Munnichsbos you hardly see any conifers, but all the more stately beeches. They form a cathedral, so to speak, which is why you pass Happiness spot 4 here. Along the Vlootbeek and through't Sweeltje you walk back to Cafe biej de Vogel.
