Walking through the Staartse Heide near Huijbergen

Southwest of Huijbergen you walk through the Staartse Heide, a forest that is part of the Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide. You walk here on slightly undulating winding paths past oaks, birches and Scots pines. It can be wonderfully quiet here among the trees, ideal for a day of relaxation. From junction 31 the landscape opens up. You walk past grasses and heath, a little further on lies the small-scale fen landscape Kleine Meer. Here you can enjoy beautiful views and reflections on the water. The last part of the route you walk between the trees again. In the past, this nature reserve was called the Broedersbos, after the monks who lived in Huijbergen. All that walking has probably made you hungry. At Brasserie de Wolf you are welcome for a bite to eat and a drink.
