Your route starts at Eetcafe de Bosrand. From here you walk straight into the narrow, elongated Savelsbos. In this sloping forest you will mainly see deciduous trees such as summer oak, beech, common maple and horse chestnut. Under the canopy of these trees you will quickly cool down after a climb. Take your time and stop every now and then to enjoy the beautiful views. During the walk you will pass several old marl quarries. Limestone (or marl) was extracted here until the Second World War. Now there are bat colonies in the quarries. You will also see prehistoric flint mines. South of Sint Geertruid you will make another nice crossing through the area of Libeek and Moerslag. From this open area you can fully enjoy the beautiful views that South Limburg is known for.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
