Monastery tour Huijbergen

From the charming Huijbergen, meandering through nature along the Belgian-Dutch border towards Ossendrecht and back again. This monastery walk takes you over small, fairytale forest paths, along water-rich areas, through dunes and over centuries-old roads where the religious history of this area still clearly resonates. In fact: without the monastery, these areas and roads might never have existed. On this 14-kilometre route, you walk in the footsteps of the former residents of the Wilhelmietenklooster that went up in flames during the Battle of the Scheldt in October 1944 and you will completely relax thanks to the stories and the natural splendour in this area. Do you hear the birds, see the changes in the seasons, do you smell the damp wood? Give your senses the treat and enjoy.
