The Land van Kalk is a relatively undiscovered area around Voerendaal, with beautiful views. Your route starts in Klimmen. Via Hulsberg and Schimmert you cycle to Wijnandsrade Castle, the western part of which dates from the sixteenth century. Between the castle and the centuries-old Stefanus Church you can see the thirteenth-century motte, on which the first version of the castle once stood. In Wijnandsrade itself there are several characteristic Limburg buildings such as the beautiful half-timbered farms that you see here in abundance. Cortenbach Castle a little further on dates from 1713. Stop off at Brasserie Zondheed Ubachsberg! Then you discover Domein Aldenborgh, an organic Dutch vineyard that mainly produces sparkling quality wines from the Riesling grape using the 'Methode Traditionelle'. You cycle back through the beautiful Eyserbos, the small hamlet of Elkenrade and the pleasant Wijlre.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
