Tour of Hoensbroek Castle, Gravenrode Park and Vijlen

Your route starts at Brasserie Zondheed Ubachsberg. Take a break at Hoensbroek Castle to visit this mighty castle! The former mining area around Staatsmijn Wilhelmina has been transformed into Park Gravenrode in recent years, of which the Anstelerbeekdal and the Strijthagerbeekdal are part. You cycle along the banks of the Cranenweyer, a reservoir in the Anstelvallei (also called the Anstelerbeekdal). You also pass Kasteel Strijthagen, the last remaining noble estate in this region. The main building dates from the eighteenth century. At Orsbach you briefly cross the border. You cycle further through Vijlen, a village high up near the Vijlenerberg. The picturesque Mechelen lies on the Geul, a village with characteristic half-timbered houses and where the church stands on a church hill. Limburg is so beautiful!
