A walk around the block at Wouwse Plantage

Your route starts at Camping Getaway. Today you will discover the De Zoom stream valley, on the edge of the Wouwse Plantage forests. This former peat canal is now an ecological connection zone. You will also see a historic brick oven on the edge of the clay pits on the Plantagebaan. You can still see the round shape of the brick oven rooms. Further on you will pass the De Nieuwe Wereld forest, which was called the Third World Forest until 2019. It was created to make people aware of the differences and the similarities with poorer areas on earth. Deforestation is a common problem, whether it is caused by environmental pollution, logging or erosion. The maintenance of the forest is entirely in the hands of a foundation and is carried out by volunteers.
