Cycling route: 4997108
Provided by: route.nl
Your route starts in Bergen. You will soon be in the Schoorlse Duinen: the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands. Staatsbosbeheer planted trees a hundred years ago to capture the dunes. You will explore the different sides of the dune area. In Bergen aan Zee you can go to the beach. Then you will cycle a bit along the Hondsbossche Zeewering. The coast between Petten and Camperduin is reinforced with a lot of sand: around 35 million cubic metres! Then you cycle along the Abtskolk, in the nature reserve Abtskolk en de Putten, a unique open area behind the Hondsbossche zeewering. It has been designated as a Natura 2000 area because the lesser white-fronted goose, barnacle goose, greylag goose and wigeon live here. Stop off at De Berenkuil, a beautiful spot in the middle of nature.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
