Your route starts in Groet. With this route you can fully enjoy the Schoorlse Duinen, the widest dune area in the Netherlands with the highest dune tops. A century ago it was one big sandbox, now dozens of bird species breed here and open drifting dunes alternate with dense forests. You also cycle along heathlands, a unique feature for the dunes. The heath can grow here because the sand is very low in lime. The landscape changes with the seasons, so it pays to cycle here more often. In June and July the ground is covered with a white carpet of tens of thousands of flowering pine orchids. The heathlands turn a beautiful purple in August. Along the edge of the dunes you will discover cozy villages such as Groet and Bergen. On the way back, stop off at De Berenkuil!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
