Tour of Kessel and Swalmen from Neer

From your starting point, you'll quickly cycle through the Gruise Epper nature reserve, named after the road of the same name that runs through it. It should have actually been called Grieze Upper: gray, barren sand, situated high up. Today, it's lush green. You'll also cycle through the Heldense Bossen forests. Here, you can enjoy miles of natural beauty, fresh air, and tranquility. Kessel boasts Keverberg Castle, a uniquely restored ruin. The medieval fortress contrasts beautifully with the glass structure that reveals the contours of its past. From the castle, you have a magnificent view of the Meuse River, the fields, and the forests. Via the German border and the beautiful Swalm Valley, you'll cycle to the village of Swalmen, through which the Swalm River flows.
