Tour of Kessel and Swalmen from Neer

From your starting point, you quickly cycle through the Gruise Epper nature reserve, named after the road of the same name that runs here. It should actually have been called Grieze Upper: grey, infertile sand, which is situated high up. Nowadays, it is wonderfully green. You also cycle through the Heldense Bossen. Here you can enjoy miles of natural beauty, fresh air and silence. Kessel is home to Keverberg Castle, a uniquely restored ruin. The medieval castle contrasts beautifully with the glass construction that shows the contours of the past. From the castle, you have a beautiful view of the Maas, the fields and the forests. Take a break at the Forelrivier Reuver! Via the German border and the beautiful Swalmdal, you cycle to the village of Swalmen, through which the Swalm flows.
