La Trappe Cycle Route Red

Discover the Red La Trappe cycling route! For those who want to discover the origins of the special La Trappe beer, this is the ideal cycling route. Start your tour with a visit to the Abbey of Our Lady of Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot. Since 1884, the Trappist monks have been brewing their beer here, with a focus on sobriety, silence and charity. Cycle from the Abbey via the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen, past the De Kampina nature reserve towards Oirschot. It is possible to shorten this route to a route of 34 km. Cycle at Hotel Stille Wilde on the Scheibaan in Oisterwijk to the Oirschotsebaan and continue the cycle tour there. Make a stop along the way at one of the cozy catering locations and atmospheric terraces to relax and enjoy a well-deserved Trappist beer.

Did you know that there are only ten breweries that are allowed to call their beer Trappist beer? You only get this title if the beer is brewed by monks. The abbey, founded by refugee monks in the heart of Brabant, is still their home. Within the centuries-old walls of the abbey, Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven produces the popular Trappist beer, with part of the proceeds going to charity.
