Walking route Zandbos and Buntven

Your route starts at Natuurpoort Green Valley Estate, a nice place to have a cup of coffee before you set off. From here you can walk straight into the Zandbos, the forests bordering the edge of the Natuurpoort. Until the second half of the nineteenth century, this area was covered with heathland and drifting sands. Now mainly Scots pines and American oaks grow there, although you will also see other types of trees. You walk around the Buntven, a natural fen. This is a beautiful, peaceful environment to take a break. Take the time to enjoy the silence and natural beauty of this idyllic spot. You then walk straight through the forest back to your starting point. Grab a seat on a terrace and enjoy a snack and a drink!
